Oh! To Touch the Sky
Oh! To Touch the Sky takes young readers to Luuco (Luch'o), a small village in Gara Muleta, Ethiopia, where Sabe was born and raised.
Inspired by childhood memories, friendship, imagination, culture, and dreams!
The landscapes and places in Oh! To Touch the Sky are inspired by the real village where Sabe grew up.
Lelli Tenane was only 17 years old when she illustrated the book.
A young Aurora artist and participant in Downtown Aurora Visual Arts ()DAVA) helped bring Sabe's childhood memories of Ethiopia to life.
This creates a beautiful connection between:
Ethiopia • Aurora • Youth Art • Culture • Children's Literature
Oh! To Touch the Sky is the beginning of a growing collection of stories inspired by Ethiopian culture, childhood, language, family, friendship, and imagination.
Follow Sabe's journey as new stories and languages are introduced.
Available in English and Afaan Oromo . Every child has a dream worth reaching for!
